I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm very happy with these. I did not notice any issues. I was thrilled at the sound AND the price. I was surprised it did not come in the box. I visited a Best Buy before buying these and was tempted to pay twice what I payed for theses. These are my first surround sound speakers so I don't have a benchmark. Some of the ratings as I remember descibed problem in the low voices.
They poo-poo'd speaker in a boxs. They were wrong and my money was well spent. I did have to visit an audio/video store to buy the cables needed to hook up my sub-woofer to my receiver. No biggie.
Speaker system is adequate for our den TV viewing. Using a Yamaha home theatrereciever and a 50" Panasonic TV. Plenty of volume, crisp at all levels. Subwoofernot as dominant as my Klisphe 10" in a larger area we have as an official hometheatre room but i have no complaints with it or the system in general giventhe very reasonable price you get all the speakers you need for a good systemin one box.
These speakers rock the walls if they're turned up. I hooked up my old Samsung speakers to the new unit and was wholly underwhelmed (it should be noted that the Insignia required a powered subwoofer with a subwoofer hookup, which the Samsung didn't have). At $209, these speakers have turned out to be an absolute steal.I hooked them up and the sound was incredible. My LCD tv sits on a tv stand and while a bit thicker than my last center channel speaker, the Polk speaker does not impede the screen, is almost unnoticeable as it and the tv are black and it delivers crisp, clear sound. I now live alone in a small apartment with the tv and home theatre in a small living room. etc. While the price was good, when I started to compare them to similar models, again, I was wholly underwhelmed.I stumbled upon the RM6750 5.1 speakers in an Amazon search, read the reviews, compared online, etc.
As always, price was a determining factor. I really didn't want to exceed my budget of $225. After receiving a new Blu Ray player to replace my old 5 Disc Samsung 5.1 Surround Sound DVD Unit (with included speakers), I purchased a new Insignia 5.1 500 Watt Home Theatre Receiver. Not bad.The satellite speakers are EXCELLENT, as is the center speaker. Some reviewers feel the center channel is intrusive. Returning to the satellites, they provide excellent surround quality and reproduction. I spent $175 on my receiver and $220 delivered on the speakers. Polk has since replaced this model with a supposedly "improved" model at, of course, a higher price.The golden rule of home theatre is to spend more on the speakers, as speakers are the deal breaker with any receiver.
This facilitated a search for new speakers.I looked at the Insignia speakers which Insignia recommended be mated to the receiver. I used to have a good sized tv room in my prior life also with a 5.1 system. Yes, the subwoofer was a bit "squishy" in terms of its deep bass reproduction, but Polk provides more than enough frequency and volume adjustments to allow for some tweaking. Overall, on the first pass. These speakers could absolutely fill that room without being taxed.At under $250 this set is an absolute steal. Throw in another $150 for 16 gauge speaker wire, 2 HDMI cables and a subwoofer cable (money that you will spend no matter what system you buy) and for approximately $550 I have a home theatre set up that I would match against systems that are twice the price.
I ended up trading them for a better receiver while in college and have regretted that decision ever since. The speakers sound great and the subwoofer alone was probably worth the $205 that I paid as it gives tremendous feel to the system at a normal listening volume for me.My only complaint is that there was not more detailed set up and placement instructions directly from Polk. My first pair of speakers almost 20 years ago were made by Polk and I absolutely loved the sound. I was shopping online and in several big box retail stores looking for a home theater option that wouldn't break the bank and give our 42" LCD some life. Now off to find a comparable Receiver to complete my new Home Theater.P.S. I am still setting up this unit for optimal listening pleasure (primarily for movies and a new Wii) in our living room that measures 21' x 26'.
The items were shipped in Polk Audio original packaging and looked and felt like a quality product upon first inspection.
I ordered this product on a Tuesday a.m.
I have found most of what I needed on the Polk website as far as set-up etc, so not too big a deal either way for me.
I was seriously considering several home theater systems in a box before checking out Amazon and finding this Polk product.
I knew this ahead of time after reading other reviews and what was included but I know that this may be important for some people.
and was both stunned and thrilled to receive the very next morning.
Keep in mind that I didn't pay extra for any kind of shipping upgrade.
For this price range I am hard pressed to think that you will find a better sounding speaker system and one that comes from a quality manufacturer such as Polk.
I would definitely buy another Polk system if there is ever a need to replace or upgrade.
Speakers deliver sound of a more expensive set with the price tag of an economy set. These speakers are far from economy and will satisfy those in the entry level market looking for more quality without breaking the bank.
